Ararat Field School hosts an in-depth introduction to ancient history. Our goal is to have a course that extends from the Early Bronze to the Roman period. For now, just the Early Bronze period is completed but individual writeups for later periods are available in Collections > Entries.

How to use this site

The Timeline

Zoom into the timeline to see more information. Click on events with a black dot next to them to view more information. A plus symbol means that the event has chronological information. You can select which regions you want displayed and drag them into whichever order you prefer, and you can filter what type of information is visible on the timeline. You can see more of the timeline by reducing font size.

The Course

Our first course covers the Early Bronze Age and the first part of the Middle Bronze. The course is accessed through the course page. The content is available free of charge but if you’d like to track your progress and take the quizzes then you will need to sign up to the course. I take minimal information and do not install any cookies or send you emails except for those directly related to the course. If you’d like to sign up for our newsletter then you are may do so here.

Each entry concludes with a review question which is not graded. A green dot appears next to the entry when the review question is completed. Quiz and exam scores are kept in a scorecard at the top of the course page. The following is a list of types of quizzes and exams together with their weighting.
